How to turn mixed plastic waste and bottles into ecobricks
WasteAid shares recycling skills around the world, creating green jobs in the poorest places and keeping plastic out of the oceans.
All donations we receive by 31 July will help train people around the world to stop plastic pollution, and will be doubled by the UK government, up to £2 million.
£12 doubled will keep the equivalent of 1,000 ecobricks (1 litre size) of plastic out of the ocean, every year.
£90 doubled will keep the equivalent of 7,500 ecobricks of plastic out of the ocean, every year.
£180 doubled will keep the equivalent of 15,000 ecobricks of plastic out of the ocean, every year.
On this page, we’ve provided a step-by-step guide to making ecobricks: free building materials made by stuffing non-recyclable plastic waste inside plastic bottles.
A well-made ecobrick is very solid and can be used in simple construction and furniture. This technique is very simple and is suitable for many types of waste plastic. It is ideal for places with no waste management.
